THE DARK KNIGHT IGNITES IMDB COMMENT MELEE

Granted no punches can be thrown over the Internet, but that has not stopped all-out digital jabs to be flung around. More story below...

While THE DARK KNIGHT has been breaking box-office records in the theaters, the keyboard ninjas have been going at it on the official IMDB website. The insults and praises have been heating up THE DARK KNIGHT's message boards like two scissoring female acquaintances.

If you haven't heard, THE DARK KNIGHT has taken over the #1 spot on the IMDB 250 TOP MOVIE LIST. The previous film honored to hold that position was the critically-acclaimed 1972 Academy Award Winner for Best Picture, THE GODFATHER.

I was lucky enough to buy my tickets early for a midnight showing of THE DARK KNIGHT. I really enjoyed the movie and can still remember some amazing scenes as I write. After watching the movie and hanging out where people hang out at in Los Angeles at 4:00 in the morning, I came home and went on the IMDB website to rate the movie. My rating of the movie is not what this article is about though. Sorry for taking so long to get to the point.

To my drunken shock, people were still posting messages on THE DARK KNIGHT's message boards at 1-hour before sunrise. And let me just say, the fun had just begun. I started reading a few posts and was "highly entertained" by the masses of the movie adoring public.

The comments came in all shapes, sizes, insults, weirdness levels, grammatical ability, emoticons, etc... I mean there were waves of new comments being posted every minute. The next morning I went back to see if the message boards had cooled down. NOPE.

THE DARK KNIGHT message boards was the place to be at for at least a minute or two this weekend. The comic-heads, fanboys, parents, old people, young people, movie elitists, nerds, and pretty much almost every other group was online chatting it up about the Batman (or either the pencil trick).

The threads were outrageous! You had people talking about hype, which film deserves to be #1, other people's mamas, IQ levels, ideas for the next movie, and so much more. I will paraphrase several of the post below"

IMDB POST 1:

commenter 1 - This movie was awesome. Perfect 10.

commenter 2 - You dimwit. How can you think that. This movie was average at best. I suggest you go back to your inbred household and watch Jerry Springer.

IMDB POST 2:

commenter 1 - Screw Mama Mia. They took money from Batman and now they must pay!!! Lets go over to their board and rate their movie a 1. I'll start, who's with me!!!

commenter 2 - Your father must live with his other family.

IMDB POST 3:

commenter 1 - How can this be #1. This just shows the downfall of America.

commenter 2 - Ignore the troll above, he thinks his opinion is fact. The days opinion becomes fact will really be the downfall.

Just for those who don't know, a person called a troll on message boards is a person's whose comments should not be taken seriously because they equate to nonsense.
